The position of rector at St Thomas’s is currently vacant. Two priests with permission to officiate at St Thomas’s are providing the main clergy support during the vacancy period: Tom Clammer is responsible for worship-related matters and Selina Deacon is responsible for pastoral issues. The churchwardens are responsible for operational matters and fabric/building and all other matters at St Thomas’s. Their contact details are below.

Br Tom Clammer OC, Priest
Tom served as a parish priest in Gloucester City and then in rural Gloucestershire before becoming Precentor of Salisbury Cathedral. He retired from stipendiary ministry in 2019 and now works freelance as a theological educator and spiritual director. He is a professed brother of the Anglican Order of Cistercians. He lives just outside Salisbury with his wife Emma. In his spare time he is usually to be found at Hampshire County Cricket club!

The Rev’d Selina Deacon, Retired Priest
After training as a nurse at another St Thomas’s (hospital in London) Selina was widowed and moved to Shaftesbury with her three daughters, where she worked until 2000. After her ordination training, she was curate in Westbury and served 10 years in the ministry in Trowbridge. After moving to Salisbury in 2017, she joined the St Thomas’s team in 2019. Although now retired, she continues to be an active member of St Thomas’s clergy team. A garden, daughters and grandchildren keep her busy in what spare moments she has.

Clare Tawney, Churchwarden
Clare retired recently from a career in publishing in the international development field. She loves singing, and has been a member of St Thomas’s choir since 2006 – she also sings with Salisbury Musical Society. She is a member of Contemplative Community – a great support. She is involved with the Churches Together in Salisbury Christian Aid Committee, which has been a great way to meet people from other churches with a concern for international development. Clare loves gardening and hiking.

Michael Humphreys, Churchwarden
Michael is a retired psychiatrist who has lived and worked in the Salisbury area since he came here in 1981. He has attended St Thomas’s since 2011 and was Churchwarden during the covid crisis and has come back for more churchwarden duties. He amuses himself by playing his french horn very badly and walking the dog, though not both at the same time!
