Visitors can drop in any time from 9am to early evening to view this medieval 800-year-old church. It is one of the essential sights of Salisbury. The church stands in its own square at the north end of Salisbury High Street, a five-minute walk from the Cathedral Close.
It’s packed with stunning historical and architectural features and unique art. Try to spot the “damned bishop” being led away to Hell in the famous and newly-restored Doom painting. Or try counting all 250 angels on the roof, walls and pillars.

For services and prayer
St Thomas’s is open for prayer and reflection Monday to Saturday from 10am to early evening. Please check the calendar for services and other events taking place in the church.
For sightseeing
The church is open for sightseeing. There is a free mobile guide for brief details of all of the interesting architectural, artistic and historic features of the building. There are also illustrated printed guides for sale and brief printed free guides in French, German, Spanish and Italian.
Coffee and cake
On Tuesdays and Saturday mornings visitors can browse through our used book stall for something to read and also enjoy cake and coffee, tea and other refreshments served on the north (left-hand) side of the nave.
Closures
Occasionally we need to close the church to the public for private bookings and events. Check the calendar for more information.
How accessible?
Outside St Thomas’s there are steps (with hand rails) and ramps to enter the church. Inside the church has ramps to all areas, though access to the Lady Chapel is only via the People’s Vestry if using ramps. As with all historic buildings, some areas of the floor are uneven and some parts of the church have low light levels.
There is a hearing loop fitted for those attending services and events, and an accessible toilet with baby changing facilities is available during coffee mornings and events. There is also free wifi available for your use while you are in the church.

How to find us
By train: St Thomas’s is a ten minute walk from Salisbury Station. On exiting the station turn left and follow the road straight on over two mini roundabouts, keeping the railway and railway bridge on your left. Continue along Fisherton Street until this becomes Silver Street, then turn left between Carwardine’s and Caffe Nero into St Thomas’s Square.
Parking: There is no parking available at St Thomas’s, but the nearest public car parks are a short walk away at Central Car Park, Brown Street, and Old George Mall. There are also a number of park and ride services around Salisbury.
