Children at St Thomas’s

“Tommy’s Corner” in the church is a quiet refuge for parents during services.

“Tommy’s Sunday School” is for children around the ages of 3 to 7 years and takes place in the St Michael’s Room, just off the south aisle of the church, during the 10:15am Sunday service. Children are introduced to praying, bible stories, and many fun craft activities, while parents can enjoy the church service.

Children from 4 to 18 have the chance to join in the musical life of St Thomas’s Church. Choristers receive an excellent musical training and work towards the awards of the Royal School of Church Music. Singing in a church choir helps young people to develop concentration, self-confidence and social skills. They also can make new friends from amongst the other choristers.

The choristers also develop their social skills and experience by participating in events and visits to sing in cathedrals, churches and other venues. For instance, in 2017 and 2019, the choir sang the weekend services at Canterbury Cathedral.

The knowledge and experience they gain as choristers will stay with them in their future lives.
